VGR: Vehicle Grading Report

The VGR is an acronym for our proprietary condition report called the Vehicle Grading Report. We’ve spent a good amount of time developing the VGR internally with our financial institution partners and now it’s available to all of our dealers to benefit from as well.

The VGR is a process but also an outputted vehicle valuation value. We start off with a step by step vehicle inspection that covers the exterior, interior, mechanical parts and tires.

Each component is inspected, photographed and recorded with our mobile app or mobile responsive website.

Exterior

We inspect each exterior component to ensure that it is thoroughly documented. We look for things like scratches, scuffs, paint, dents, chips, rust, road rash and PDR on the following components.
  • Front Bumper
  • Grille
  • Hood
  • Headlights
  • Front Panels
  • Back Panels
  • Doors
  • Windshields
  • Roof
  • Trunk/Bed
  • Bumper
  • Taillights

Interior

Each of the interior component is inspected and thoroughly documented. We look for things like rips, tears, wearing, burns, stains and odors.
  • Seats
  • Carpet
  • Headliner
  • Center Console
  • Door Panels
  • Dash

Mechanical

The condition of the mechanical components is especially critical so we look for things like engine codes, knocks, roughness, slipping and operational status. We check and document the following components.
  • Engine
  • Transmission/Clutch
  • Air Conditioner
  • Brakes
  • Radio
  • Navigation
  • Sun Roof
  • Convertible

Tires

We check for a spare tire, jack, tread depth and whether all four tires match or need to be replaced.
  • Tread depth
  • Spare/Jack

Suggested Sell It Now Price

We determine the suggested sell it now price by taking the average of NADA, KBB and MMR and subtracting the estimated reconditioning value. By utilizing the average of popular book values and then considering reconditioning, we are able to more accurately value vehicles.

VGR Display and Interpretation
The results are available for everyone to see once the vehicle has been thoroughly inspected and on-boarded to the E-DealerDirect platform.

You can view a VGR from the auction listing page or from the “My Vehicles” section if you are the seller. The VGR is available in both print out and digital formats.

We also affix a 1-5 star rating to the VGR output that is representative of the general condition of the vehicle based on the Vehicle Grading Report process. Five star being the best and one the worst possible condition. The example vehicle above is in good condition and has a VGR rating of 4 1/2 stars.
